Solar energy and the flat plate collector: an annotated bibliography

Book ·
OSTI ID:7202606
Flat plate collectors of solar energy are described as follows; Design, heat losses, thermal insulation, coverings or glazing, performance, mathematical models, spectrally selective surfaces, heat transfer, water or air, dusts, usage, economics, heat storage, do-it-yourself manuals, etc. The values of solar flux and insolation are reviewed, with some discussion of the dependence of insolation on the sun's elevation, effect of dusts, water vapor and clouds in the atmosphere, seasonal variations, etc. It has been found that where the insolation is close to what one might expect without the earth's atmosphere, there is little variability; when the insolation is lower, the variability is greater. There are about 100 references. (LTN)
