Progress achieved to date of a joint IGC-GE program for developing a practical multifilamentary Nb/sub 3/Sn superconductor for use in a superconducting generator is described. The cable approach for producing a Nb/sub 3/Sn conductor is evaluated, and the results of bend and tensile tests for various cables are presented. Fabrication methods for producing long lengths of multifilamentary Nb/sub 3/Sn superconductor are discussed, and test data for several small coils are presented. (auth)
