Multifilamentary Nb$sub 3$Sn for superconducting generator applications

Conference · · IEEE Trans. Magn., v. MAG-11, no. 2, pp. 287-290
OSTI ID:4103783
Progress achieved to date of a joint IGC-GE program for developing a practical multifilamentary Nb$sub 3$Sn superconductor for use in a superconducting generator is described. The cable approach for producing a Nb$sub 3$Sn conductor is evaluated, and the results of bend and tensile tests for various cables are presented. Fabrication methods for producing long lengths of multifilamentary Nb$sub 3$Sn superconductor are discussed, and test data for several small coils are presented. (auth)
