The USSR has vast oil and gas potential reserves--over 400 billion bbl of petroleum and more than 3,250 tcf of natural gas, 50 percent of which is located in the USSR north. These reserves are expected to account for 20 percent of the USSR total natural gas production in 1975 and about 48 percent of the total petroleum production by 1980. Reserves of the top five Siberian gas fields are given. (LK)
