The authors discuss the reaction of weak ..pi..-acids, such ascis-a, b-dinitrostilbene (cis-DNS) and cis-a-nitrostilbene (cis-NS), with organometallic complexes (OMC) (I) - (VII) of the general formula (CO)/sub 4/ML/sub 2/. In all cases studied, no changes were observed in the CO group bands in the IR spectra of the mixtures or chemical shifts in the corrosponding H 1 and C 13 NMR spectra. However, there is some reaction of OMC with cis-DNS, or a cis-trans-isomerization of the olefinic compounds is observed.
