Thermogravimetric and mass-spectrometric studies of Cd/sub 4/GeS/sub 6/ and Cd/sub 4/GeSe/sub 6/

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:7192095
Thermogravimetric studies of Cd/sub 4/GeS/sub 6/ and Cd/sub 4/GeSe/sub 6/ powders show that these substances are stable in air up to 680 and 740/sup 0/K, respectively. Vaporization of the compounds is of an incongruent nature and the degree of their dissociation depends on the vaporizer temperature. The vapor phase of the compounds contains CdS, CdSe, GeS/sub 2/, and GeSe/sub 2/ molecules, which are units of the crystal structure, but no molecules having germanium and cadmium atoms together.
