The standard free energy of sodium chromate was determined employing a reversible cell. Results give 2Na(l) + 5/4 O/sub 2/(g) + 1/2 Cr/sub 2/O/sub 4/(s) = Na/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/(l); ..delta..G/sup 0/ = -648,900 + 106.94T (J/mole) and 2Na(l) + 2 O/sub 2/(g) + Cr(s) = Na/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/(l); ..delta..G/sup 0/ = -1,209,900 + 233.1T (J/mole). These results are valid in the vicinity of 900/sup 0/C. (auth)
