Phase diagram of the system Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/-K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/
The Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/-K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/ phase diagram was determined by using differential thermal analyses with confirmation by high-temperature x-ray diffraction. The outstanding features are the formation of a eutectic composition of approx. 22.5 mole% K/sub 2/CrO between Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/ and the double salt, delta-Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/.K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/, at 390/sup 0/C; the formation of a congruently melting double Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/ with three solid state allotropic forms, ..gamma.., delta, and epsilon, the d spacings and colors of which are given; and the formation of a eutectic composition at approx. 54 mole% K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/ between ..cap alpha.. K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/ and the double salt, ..gamma..-Li/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/.K/sub 2/CrO/sub 4/, at 525/sup 0/C. 2 figures, 2 tables.
