Use of thin-layer chromatography for determination of amides

Thin-layer chromatography is one of the most sensitive methods for determination of amides of organic acids. It is recommended that this method be used to determine caprolactam in waste-waters. This paper presents a simple and highly sensitive method for determination of type RCONH/sub 2/, RCONHR', RSO/sub 2/NH, and RSO/sub 2/NHR' amides. A selective method for the detection of amines is also proposed and was formerly used for the determination of amides in air.
