Coke ovens over 6m high built by Firma Carl Still are described. The advantages of large ovens, and the parameters which can be altered to increase coke oven capacity are listed. Multi-stage heating is used to overcome vertical temperature distribution problems. Temperature control and pollution control are described briefly.
