HPI spending outlook '90

Journal Article · · Hydrocarbon Processing; (USA)
OSTI ID:7180468
This article reports on the worldwide hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI), expected to spend $117.5 billion in 1990-up $9.2 billion over 1989. Petrochemicals alone will account for 66 billion of these dollars. The number of active HPI construction projects is at its highest level since 1983. New project activity is expected to continue at a high level as the HPI reconfigures, modernizes and expands its operations to meet a growing demand for end products, and to comply with more stringent environmental regulations. These regulations affect product specifications and plant operations. New projects are having a positive impact on HPI spending. As a result, the HPI's capital, maintenance and operating budgets are forecast to increase again in 1990.
