Alloy 903, an Fe--Ni--Co superalloy, is being used in the main rocket engine of the space shuttle. Its composition is 36--40 Ni, 13--17 Co, 2.4--3.5 Nb, 1.0--1.85 Ti, 0.30--1.15 Al, 0.06 C max, and bal Fe. Its fabrication and properties are described: heat treatments, thermomechanical processing, solution treatment and aging, strength, stress-rupture.
