Effect of nuclear mass on g/sub J/(He, 2 /sup 3/S/sub 1/)

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., A; (United States)
We have calculated nuclear mass corrections of orders ..cap alpha../sup 2/m/M, ..cap alpha../sup 3/m/M, and ..cap alpha../sup 2/m/sup 2//M/sup 2/ to the g/sub J/ factor for the 2 /sup 3/S/sub 1/ state of the helium atom. These corrections enable us to make a precise prediction for the isotopic g-factor ratio. The result is g/sub J/(/sup 3/He, 2 /sup 3/S/sub 1/)/g/sub J/(/sup 4/He, 2 /sup 3/S/sub 1/) = 1 + 2.8303 x 10/sup -9/ with an estimated uncertainty of +- 0.0005 x 10/sup -9/. This is an improvement upon a more approximate result reported previously by Grotch and Hegstrom. (AIP)
