An approximately relativistic theory of bound states which ensures Poincare invariance of the atomic system to relative order ([ital v]/[ital c])[sup 2] is used to derive the Zeeman interaction Hamiltonian correct to order [alpha][sup 3] and to all orders in [ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]] for an arbitrary three-body system. This approach is distinctly different from methods used in the past. The terms of order [ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]], [alpha][sup 2], and [alpha][sup 3] agree with previous results. The terms of order [alpha][sup 2][ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]] and smaller do not agree with previous results. The terms of order [ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]], [alpha][sup 2], [alpha][sup 3], and [alpha][sup 2][ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]] are used to calculate the [ital g] factors for [ital n]=2 [sup 4]He and [sup 3]He. The corrections of order [alpha][sup 3] and [alpha][sup 2][ital m][sub [ital e]]/[ital m][sub [ital N]] have not previously been calculated for the [ital P]-state [ital g] factors. Our results for the [sup 4]He 2 [sup 3][ital S][sub 1] [ital g][sub [ital J]] factor [[ital g][sub [ital e]](1[minus]40.9158[times]10[sup [minus]6])] can be compared with the result of Grotch and Hegstrom [Phys. Rev. A 8, 1166 (1973)] [[ital g][sub [ital e]]([minus]40.9157[times]10[sup [minus]6])]. We calculate the ratio of this [ital g] factor to the [ital g] factor of 1 [sup 2][ital S][sub 1/2] hydrogen to be 1[minus]23.211[times]10[sup [minus]6].
