Journal Article · · Energy Detente; (United States)
OSTI ID:7167173
World average price for premium gasoline has risen slightly since the beginning of 1987, up US $0.06 per gallon, from US $1.87 to US $1.93 (on a simple average basis). This increase is due to the increase in taxes, which grew from US $0.88 to US $0.97, an increase of over 10% -- in terms of the US currency. Tapping the ED international fuel/price tax survey, this issue examines the role of taxes in consumer domestic-petroleum-product prices in 70 countries (tabular data presented). This issue also contains the following: (1) ED refining netback data from the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore for early March 1988; and (2) Ed fuel price/tax series for countries of both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, March 1988 edition. 9 figures, 7 tables.
