Consumer fuel prices and taxes around the world: 1988-1989 update

This special report reveals several facets of fuel prices to end users, and the taxes to end users, around the world. From a subsidized low price to a free-market high price, from zero tax to a tax over half, countries' fuel markets vary astonishingly. Also surprising, while countries are continually changing their prices and taxes and related policies, the world average has not changed dramatically during the past few years. This issue also contains: (1) the ED refining netback data series for the US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore as of July 21, 1989; and (2) the ED fuel price/tax series for countries of the Eastern Hemisphere, July 1989 edition. 5 figs., 12 tabs.
