Gulf of Mexico deepwater project moving toward 1995 start-up

Production equipment and pipelines for a major US Gulf of Mexico deepwater project are under construction or being fabricated this summer as it moves toward a 1995 start-up. Contractors for operator Enserch Exploration Partners Ltd.'s Garden Banks Block 388 project are nearly finished fabricating the subsea production template, floating production facility, and production riser. The shallow-water jacket for the processing decks to receive produced oil and gas was installed in April; deck fabrication is nearing completion in Morgan City, La. And, pipelay for fuel lines and transmission pipelines got underway last month. The paper discusses drilling and contract activity; floating production; template and riser installation; trees and subsea control; shallow water processing platform; pipeline design; and pipeline installation method.
