This report is a compilation of data supplied in response to Electrical World's 80th annual survey. Data represent investor-owned systems, federal agencies, cooperatives, and municipal, state, and public-power-district systems. Data for major Canadian utilities are also included. Data given for 1983 are recorded expenditures; data for 1984 are budget estimates. Data from the investor-owned systems have been adjusted to 100% of the industry. The response from other segments of the industry, and from Canada, are less complete, and have not been adjusted to 100% of the industry. The completeness of this report is made possible by the full cooperation of participating utilities, EEI, EIA/DOE, REA, NRECA, and the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp.
