Superplasticity and superplastic forming; Proceedings of the International Conference, Blaine, WA, Aug. 1-4, 1988
The present conference on superplastic forming (SPF) materials and fabrication technologies discusses topics in microstructural dynamics, rheology and cavitation, SPF alloy design, the relationship of SPF to diffusion bonding (DB), and prospective applications of SPF-DB. Attention is given to the mechanism of superanelasticity, a complex mechanism for superplastic deformation of Mg alloys, the role of matrix dislocations in superplastic deformations, and the role of cavitation in the failure of superplastic alloys. Also discussed are rheological criteria for the use of superplasticity, the relationship between strain-rate sensitivity index and strain in superplasticity, FEM modelling of thin-sheet SPF, the reduction of superplasticity temperatures in Ti alloys, SPF-DB im military aircraft, superplasticity in zirconia-toughened ceramics, and the forming of nonsuperplastic materials with superplastic membranes.
