Theoretical study of the site selectivity of the zeolite cation--2. Site selectivities of alkaline earth metal cations in dehydrated, fully ion-exchanged zeolite A

Calculated cation-lattice interaction energies predict that the sixth, and last, magnesium, calcium, strontium, or barium ion exchanged into A zeolite will prefer site II (near the center of the eight-membered oxygen ring). This confirms available experimental evidence for calcium and strontium.
