The Naval Air Engineering Center site is on the National Priorities List. On-site environmental contamination consists of lead, 1,1-dichloroethane, and trans-1,2-dichloroethylene in non-potable water wells; arsenic, lead, xylene, trichloroethylene, ethylbenzene, trimethyl benzene, and methylethyl benzene in ground water; zinc in surface water; fluoranthene, pyrene, and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene in soil; and heavy metals in stream sediment. The site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the possibility of exposure to hazardous substances via contaminated ground water, soil, sediment, and surface water.
