Monte Carlo particle transport on parallel processors

Recent increases in computer performance have been due to innovations in computer architecture as well as improvements in hardware speed. In particular, several vendors are now offering parallel processors, including multiple vector processors as well as multiple scalar processors. Recent progress has been made in developing parallel algorithms for particle transport Monte Carlo code for both shared memory and distributed memory parallel processors, with measured timing results for a photon transport application on two different parallel processors.
