Coalex Pty. Limited is to open two new coal mines in the Lithgow district of the Sydney Coal Basin. An experimental mine has already been opened. The bord and pillar method will be used to mine the Wolgan seam. An automatically controlled coal preparation plant will be built near the Wolgan mine, from which it is planned to produce 1,900,000 tons of coal per year. High productivity is achieved by using Jeffrey Heliminers.
