Oil from coal factory obtains supplies from its own mine at Sigma

The Sigma coal mine which supplies coal for Sasol mines 100,000 tons per week of high ash (35 percent) coal. The mine has used the bord and pillar method, but recently (1975) longwall equipment has been introduced to make more effective utilization of the reserves. Conveyer systems, coal preparation plant and mine ventilation are described briefly. Management organization and training methods are given. (LTN)
