This patent describes a method for producing a ceramic precursor composition. It comprises: electrochemically generating acid or base materials at an anode or at a cathode respectively, of a biased electrochemical cell containing an anode compartment separated from a cathode compartment. The acid of base materials reacts with the startling materials contained in the compartments to produce an electrodeposited ceramic precursor composition and the electrochemically deposited ceramic precursor composition is dispersed and dried. Also described is a method for producing a ceramic precursor composition.
