Methane as recovery from sanitary landfills

Journal Article · · Waste Age; (United States)
OSTI ID:7119614

Sanitary landfills generate methane as a result of microbiological fermentation processes in the organic wastes. Although the methane is a potential problem, the possibility exists of recovering it and using it as a low Btu gas or upgrading it to pipeline quality SNG. The technical, economic, and financial feasibility of extracting the methane is analyzed. The combustion technology for landfill gas is reviewed. (JSR)
