Ignition of a fuel in contact with an oxidizer

This paper considers the problem of ignition of a semi-infinite volume of condensed fuel at an initial temperature To, placed in contact at time t = 0 with an oxidizer having a constant concentration Co on the contact surface x = 0. The oxidizer diffuses into the fuel and enters into a first order exothermal reaction with it. There is no heat loss from the surface. The goal of this paper is to determine the ignition time, as defined by a criterion to be formulated below.
