The contribution to the weak {ital NN} interaction from one- and two-pion exchange is studied. It is shown that the {ital P}-odd interaction between solitons arises only when their separation is {approx lt}(2{ital m}{sub {pi}}){sup {minus}1} and is comparable to the soliton size. This result implies that in the Skyrme model there is no long-range component of the weak {ital NN} interaction, and the {ital P}-odd effects in the {ital NN} system are generated at small internucleon separations (overlapping solitons). This picture differs qualitatively from the description of the weak {ital NN} interaction in the one-boson-exchange model, where weak one-pion exchange contributes significantly to practically all {ital P}-odd effects.
