Comparison of Gelsenberg and Scholven hydrogenation products

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7099914
A comparison was made of an analysis of the products of the Gelsenberg and Scholven plants. The sampling and reporting was done in February and March, and May of 1940. At least two series of analysis were made to exclude accidental results as far as possible. The report pointed out the various differences in results and thus showed where improvements could be made. Table 1 of the report compared the solids, ash, asphalt in oil, and water in the coal paste of the two plants. Table 2 gave information concerning the HOLD (heavy oil let down) including a vacuum distillation curve and an analysis of the ash composition. Table 3 was an investigation of the coal catchpot including some boiling points. Table 4 was data on the middle oils including a boiling point curve and a chemical analysis of the oil. Table 5 was data on A-gasoline including a boiling point curve and chemical analy for the 5058 converter including a boiling point curve and a chemical analysis. Table 6 was data on the feed for the 5058 converter including a boiling point curve and a chemical analysis. Table 7 was data on the catchpot of the 5058 stall including distillation data, a volume Engler, and a chemical analysis. Table 8 was data on the injected product for the 6434 stall including a boiling point curve and a chemical analysis. Table 9 was an analysis of the catchpot of the 6434 stall including Engler volumes of products and a chemical analysis. Table 10 was data on the finished product of gasoline including boiling point curves, chemcal analysis, and results of various tests.
