Cosurfactant influencing the thermostabilty of micellar dispersions

The thermostability of a micellar dispersion was shifted to higher temperatures by increasing the concentration of the cosurfactant. Both the upper and lower temperature limits on the thermostability range were shifted to higher temperatures. Stability at a maximum of 126/sup 0/F was achieved using a dispersion of ammonium petroleum sulfonate (MW 430), crude column side cut, water (400 ppM TDS), and cosurfactants (nonionic polyol and p-amyl alcohol).
