Effect of F/sup -/, H/sub 2/PO/sub 4//sup -/, and SO/sub 4//sup - -/ on pitting corrosion of steel 1Kh18N10T in chloride--nitrate solutions

The experiments were carried out in unbuffered 1N KCl + 0.5N KNO/sub 3/ solution with addition of KF, KH/sub 2/PO/sub 4/, and K/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ at 30 to 90/sup 0/. Fluoride ions (0.1 to 0.3N) did not affect the critical pitting potentials for steel 1Kh18N10T, but did impair passivity at a potential in excess of 800 mV. Anodic potentiodynamic curves are shown for KF and H/sub 2/PO/sup -//sub 4/; the i--tau relationship is also shown for the latter. Addition of SO/sub 4//sup 2 -/ in a concentration up to 0.5N does not affect phi/sub in/ at the temperatures studied and shifts phi/sub p/ for the steel toward more positive values to some extent. 3 figures, 1 table.
