Process upgrades coke to gas

The Rockwell molten salt gasification process provides a means of upgrading low-value petroleum coke to clean fuel gas or synthesis gas. The process also recovers elemental sulfur and vanadium concentrate while offering versatility. Almost any carbonaceous material, e.g., petroleum coke, residual oil, coal, wood, can be converted to either low- or medium-Btu gas by using air or oxygen, respectively, as the primary oxidant.
