Effect of insertion of lithium ions on the dielectric properties of the Ba/sub 0/ /sub 725/Sr/sub 1/ /sub 775/Nb/sub 5/O/sub 15/ phase with the tungsten quadratic bronze structure (in French)
A new solid solution with formula Ba/sub 0/./sub 725/Sr/sub 1/,/sub 775/Li/sub x/Nb/sub 5-x/Ti/sub x/O/sub 15/ (0.02 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1) has been prepared by insertion of lithium in the lattice of Ba/sub 0/./sub 725/Sr/sub 1/./sub 775/Nb/sub 5/O/sub 15/. It is isostructural with the tetragonal tungsten bronzes and has a ferroelectric behaviour. Crystallographic and dielectric studies show that lithium is intercalated preferably in the 15 or 12 coordination sites when 0.02 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.50 and then with coordination 9 when 0.50 less than x less than or equal to 1. Pyroelectric and electrooptic applications are expected for such materials.
