Journal Article · · Ocean Ind.; (United States)

Canada's proven and potential reserves of conventional oil totals approx. 100 billion bbl--enough to supply its needs for roughly 125 yr. Coupled with this are proven recoverable tar sand and heavy oil reserves sufficient to supply the nation with an additional 300-yr supply of fuel. These supplies are economical to find and develop at present world prices. Most of the coventional oil will come from the Beaufort Sea, Canadian Arctic Island area and off the Atlantic Coast of Labrador, and Newfoundland.
