Propagation of a magnetohydrodynamic shock wave in the solar atmosphere

The propagation of a magnetohydrodynamic shock wave in the nonuniform chromosphere and corona is studied using numerical modeling. The finite conductivity of the plasma and the magnetic field are taken into account. It is shown that the shock wave leads to dissipation of the magnetic field behind the front and to heating of the plasma as a whole. The profiles of the principal quantities obtained are used to estimate the intensity of radiation from the region directly behind the shock wave front at the fundamental and double plasma frequencies.
