An attempt is made in this book to address all the important economic questions raised by the oil crisis. An examination is made first about how the oil crisis came about and how it might evolve in the future. Its concern then shifts to the evaluation of such specific, major economic issues as the quadrupling of oil prices in the period 1973-74, which had serious effects on the world economy in the key areas of real income, inflation, standard of living, balance of payments, capital flows, international monetary reform, banking, and finance.
