Study of resonance production in np-bar interactions at 6. 1 GeV/c
The inclusive production of the resonances rho/sup 0/(770), ..omega../sup 0/(780), f/sup 0/(1270), and ..delta..(1232) in n-barp interactions at 6.1 GeV/c is investigated. Events of n-barp interaction are obtained from d-barp data by separation of spectator antiprotons. Total and topological cross sections for ..delta../sup + +/ and rho/sup 0/ are given, and also estimates of the cross sections for the ..omega../sup 0/ and f/sup 0/ resonances. On the basis of G invariance of the n-barp reaction the total cross section sigma(..delta..+Delta-bar) is found to be 19.2 +- 3.7 mb and /sub N//sub A/ = sigma(..delta..+Delta-bar)/sigma/sub N//sub A/(n-barp) = 0.74 +- 0.15. Distributions in transverse momentum and rapidity of rho/sup 0/ and ..delta../sup + +/ resonances are obtained. It is shown that about 60% of the charged ..pi.. mesons in n-barp interactions at 6.1 GeV/c originate from the decay of the light resonances rho, ..omega.., f, ..delta.., Delta-bar. Our results are compared with p-barp data and with the predictions of quark-parton models.
