Search for 2/sup +/ states in /sup 4/He by the photodisintegration method

Comparison of experimental data obtained at our institute on the two-particle photodisintegration of /sup 4/He up to 50 MeV with theoretical calculations indicates a high probability of existence in /sup 4/He of a 2/sup +/ state at E/sub ..gamma../=30--35 MeV with ..gamma../sup 2/=5 MeV. Theoretical calculations taking into account 2/sup +/ states in /sup 4/He for description of two-particle photodisintegration agree satisfactorily with the experimental results on the energy dependence of the asymmetry coefficients of photoneutrons and photoprotons and the quadrupole cross sections of the (..gamma..,n) and (..gamma..,2d) reactions.
