Meander-line slow-wave antenna for launching lower hybrid waves in a plasma

A meander-line slow-wave structure was found to be a good launcher of a traveling lower hybrid wave with a large longitudinal retardation. The antenna analysis without plasma loading gives good approximations for the characteristic impedance and the longitudinal retardation even if the plasma is loaded. The space harmonics wave, which characterizes a periodic slow-wave structure, was directly observed.
