2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) a contaminant of the herbicide 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T)- and Arochlor 1254 a PCB used as a plasticizer in industry were tested for effects in the two stage system of mouse skin carcinogenesis. Both were found to be weak tumor initiators, and only slightly modify the response of a known carcinogen in this system.
