Research on geologic effects of underground nuclear explosions in a Sahara granite massif. Part 1

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7053694

Main results are reported of geologic studies carried out on underground nuclear explosions in a Haggar granite massif. The work is divided into 3 parts. The first part consists of a relatively brief study of the test site. Part 2 consists of an analysis of a number of specific geologic problems related to underground nuclear explosions, including descriptions of surface damage, fracturing observed in boreholes by television, permeability measurements, and mineralogical transformations in the rocks of the close-in zone. Part 3 is an interpretation of the observations reported in Pt. 2.
