Research on geologic effects of underground nuclear explosions in a Sahara granite massif. Part 2
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:6781701
The results of special methods used to analyze the geologic effects of underground nuclear explosions in granite of Tauorirt Tan Afella, Africa, are presented. The study, based on a synthesis of results obtained during each experiment, attempts a numerical analysis of the effects of explosions. Data from television cameras in boreholes, in situ permeability measurements, and detailed mineral studies in the laboratory are used to support the numerical analysis. The geological effects studied include mineralogical transformations, cavity and chimney formation, zone-of-fracturing, and surface damage.
