Testing the Goldstone boson equivalence theorem in hadron colliders

We test the validity of the Goldstone boson equivalence theorem by calculating the cross sections for the real hadronic processes [ital pp][r arrow][ital X][sub [ital L]][ital X][sub [ital L]]+anything ([ital X][sub [ital L]]=[ital W][sub [ital L]][sup [plus minus]] or [ital Z][sub [ital L]]) in hadron colliders. For the subprocesses, we use the exact amplitudes, and also the amplitudes given by the equivalence theorem. For the low [ital M][sub [ital X][ital L]][ital X][sub [ital L]] region (200--400 GeV), there are substantial discrepancies between the two cross sections. In addition to [ital M][sub [ital W]][sup 2]/[ital [cflx s]] terms, there are significant contributions from the [ital M][sub [ital H]][sup 2]/[ital [cflx s]] terms present in the difference between the exact and equivalence amplitude for the subprocesses. In particular, [ital M][sub [ital H]][sup 2]/[ital [cflx s]] terms are very important for [ital M][sub [ital H]][similar to] [radical][ital [cflx s]] .
