This paper addresses costs of a specific case of coal transportation from the Powder River Basin to the mid-south area. An economic evaluation of the pipeline transportation alternative to railroad transportation is presented. This examination will concentrate on developing and understanding the costs associated with pipeline and rail transportation of coal. (DMC)
