This book describes the various types of environmental attack. It deals with the corrosion of metals and includes overviews of aspects such as galvanic and intergranular corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion. Stress corrosion cracking, brittle failure (including impurity segregation, liquid metal embrittlement, and hydrogen embrittlement), and irradiation effects are addressed. Some of the commonly used structural alloys and the types of environmental degradation are discussed.
