Scalar-meson model and radiative decays of the K meson

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)
We investigate the role which scalar mesons play in the radiative decays of the K meson. A scalar-meson model involving the delta (980) is proposed to describe the three- and four-body K decays K/sup 0//sub L/ ..-->.. ..pi../sup 0/..gamma gamma.., K/sup + -/ ..-->.. ..pi../sup asterisk/..gamma gamma.., K ..-->.. ..pi pi pi gamma.., and K ..-->.. ..pi pi gamma gamma... The calculation of the decay rates is based on the most recent experimental data on delta (980) and on the Moshe-Singer version of the weak nonleptonic Hamiltonian. For the decays K ..-->.. ..pi gamma gamma.., the results of the calculation are compared with the predictions of various other models as well as with the present experimental data.
