U. S. oil demand to climb in 1990--

Journal Article · · Oil and Gas Journal; (USA)
OSTI ID:7016941
The author discusses how continued economic growth coupled with stable or slowly declining petroleum product prices will boost U.S. oil demand in 1990. Last year product demand grew minimally due to substantial increases in product prices and competition from other fuels in the industrial and utility markets. A record low year for exploration and drilling activity in 1989 extended a U.S. crude oil production slide that began in 1986. The Mar. 24 Exxon Valdez oil spill of Alaska steepened the decline by reducing average North Slop output. this year's production decline - 275,000 b/d - won't be as great.
