American National Standards Institute/American Nuclear Society (ANSI/ANS) 8.20-1991, Nuclear Criticality Safety Training, was developed as a guide to ensure safe operations. The standard provides criteria for nuclear criticality safety training for personnel associated with operations outside of reactors where a potential exists for criticality accidents. The objective of the standard is to codify the essential requirements and the basic characteristics of an effective nuclear criticality safety training program. This paper relates the contents, development, and applications of the standard.
