CYGRO-3: a computer program to determine temperature, stesses, and deformations in oxide fuel rods (LWBR Development Program)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7010564

The CYGRO-3 computer program is an updated version of CYGRO-2. Time-dependent stresses and deformations are calculated for exide fuel rods as a result of a history of power, coolant pressure and temperature etc., assuming axial and circumferential uniformity. Major changes are the incorporation of void migration, fuel cracking, fuel-clad interaction if the clad is collapsed, effect of loads at the rod supports, effect of neutron flux on creep, clad anisotropy, first order calculation of bending moments and deflections caused by nonuniform power distribution across fuel rod, and dynamic relations for hardening and recovery. Provisions are also made for use of the Bettis input data package for easy specification of input, together with options regarding repetition of history data for cyclic operation, and optional suppression of some output data. This computer program was developed as part of the LWBR development program. 9 references. (NSA 24: 36032)
