Computer simulation of dislocation glide-II. Comparison with experiments

The authors consider the glide of a single dislocation through randomly distributed obstacles of given properties. Using a model, the authors studied the critical resolved shear stress for a thermal glide and the velocity of thermally activated glide at finite temperature as functions of the nature and strength of the obstacles. Results are compared with experimental data and good agreement is found.
